Day 17: The Institution of the Holy Eucharist
Part I
The Fifth Luminous Mystery of the Rosary
John 6:30-71
In John Chapter 6, Christ reveals the cornerstone of all His teachings. Yet this truth did not come without pushback. John 6:66 reminds us that many of His disciples walked away because of this one teaching. Showing us that the mark of 666 follows all of those who separate themselves from Christ!
Still, Christ remains firm. He reaffirms His position so strongly that He turns to His twelve apostles and challenges them to leave as well if they do not believe. In doing so, He stakes the entire history of salvation on this one teaching. He would rather have the apostles leave Him than see this truth rejected.
Today’s Virtue:
Humility to accept Christ’s teachings, even when they challenge our own beliefs.
Emulate Mary and say yes to Christ even when it is difficult. She was the first to receive something that surpassed her understanding: a virginal pregnancy with God. Yet at the Annunciation, she responded with, “Thy will be done!”
Are we saying yes to God with the same trust and surrender?
Prayerfully read and meditate: John 6:29-71
